The firms of hooligans, hungry for power and respect, have had enormous influence on the culture around them. Hooligans have always had a stronger influence on the society around them than their small numbers would suggest. Because many firms of hooligans are willing to commit most of their lives in support of a common goal, they can reach levels of influence that most individuals cannot. This strength creates an image to the public that encourages similar behavior. Miguel suggests that this image creates societal pressure for the disillusioned youth to model this lifestyle.
